Abstract:

Given the growing water stress in Algeria and the need to expand the reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation, field practitioners (wastewater treatment, plant engineers, farmers, students) lack a single digital tool to quickly interpret water-quality data, verify regulatory compliance, and assess climate impact. This work presents the design and architecture of EauClair System, a web platform developed to address this need. The system is structured on eight interconnected functional pages: A home page, a main menu, a section for automated water quality analysis and interpretation with curve generation, a module for simulation of treatment-process removal rates, a carbon footprint calculation module for wastewater treatment plants. An “Algerian Farmer's Guide” module determining the suitability of water for irrigation according to crop type, a materials-and-methods section linked to reference analytical protocols, and a bibliography of external scientific resources. Each module integrates automated scientific interpretation and a PDF export function. The platform relies on the regulatory thresholds set by the Algerian inter-ministerial decree of 16 October 2017 on water intended for irrigation. This work describes the functional logic of the system, discusses its added value compared with current manual data processing practices, and identifies its current limitations (reliance on manual data entry, absence of real-time sensors, non-statistical interpretations) as well as avenues for improvement (IoT sensor integration, predictive models, mobile interface).
